Inside the Secret World of the High-Profile Rented House: Online Registrations, Midnight Parties, and a Senior Police Official Caught in the Middle

When law enforcement agencies raid residential neighborhoods, they usually look for routine lawbreakers. But sometimes, a routine tip leads to a bizarre discovery that shatters expectations, especially when the property in question belongs to a high-ranking member of the police force itself.

Recent investigations by the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police have uncovered a staggering operation running out of a luxury residence located in the capital’s 300-feet area. The house, owned by Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abdullah Al Zahir of the police headquarters, became the center of a major scandal after a midnight raid exposed a hidden world of clandestine gatherings.

According to police officials, the property was secretly functioning as a hotspot for regular clandestine events, hosting an estimated twenty to twenty-two separate gatherings every single month. Instead of private family life, the five-room house was being utilized for organized parties that required attendees to go through a formal digital registration process beforehand.

Investigators revealed that organizers used popular online hospitality and travel platforms, including Airbnb and Travala, to book the venue and manage guest lists. Participants wishing to join the midnight events had to register online and pay a per-person fee of approximately six hundred taka, while overall venue rental fees for each session reportedly approached around one lakh taka. The gatherings typically stretched from noon until early morning, drawing large groups of young people.

When detective units stormed the premises following a tip-off, they encountered a chaotic scene as participants scrambled across different rooms to avoid authorities. The raid resulted in the detention of eighty-four individuals, including twenty-six women, from inside the property. A search of the building yielded multiple bottles of alcohol, quantities of yaba, kush, and various health-related products.

As details of the illegal operations came to light, administrative fallout was swift. The property owner, Additional DIG Abdullah Al Zahir, was immediately removed from his active responsibilities and attached to a different branch of the police headquarters as internal probes began to determine how a senior law enforcement officer’s private asset came to host such extensive, unauthorized commercial activities.

The incident has sparked widespread discussions regarding accountability, property rental oversight, and the surprising ways modern digital platforms can sometimes be exploited right under the nose of the law.
