Signs of Awami League’s Return in December Seen in Two Places: Sarjis Alam

National Citizen Party (NCP) northern region chief coordinator Sarjis Alam has said there are signs of talk about the Awami League’s possible return in December in two places—social media and, possibly, India.

“There is no chance of the Awami League returning. No perpetrator of genocide, murderer or convicted person sentenced to death can return to an independent and sovereign country,” he said.

Sarjis made the remarks while responding to journalists after an NCP organisational coordination meeting at the Brahmanbaria District Shilpakala Academy auditorium around 8:30pm on Saturday.

Speaking about the ongoing energy crisis, he said that if the finance and energy ministers admit that the electricity and gas situation has gone beyond their control, all ministers responsible for those sectors should resign. He added that the prime minister also cannot avoid responsibility if ministers are unable to run their ministries properly.

Sarjis also criticised the country’s law and order situation and urged the home minister to pay greater attention to his ministry. He alleged that the minister was currently acting as a “proxy” for the prime minister, leaving insufficient attention for the important responsibilities of the Home Ministry.

The meeting was chaired by NCP Brahmanbaria district convener Jahangir Alam. NCP Joint Convener Sarwar Tushar and Jatiya Jubo Shakti General Secretary Abu Bakar Majumdar also attended as special guests.
