Mirza Abbas Expected to Return Home on September 2 After Five Months of Treatment

Prime Minister’s Political Adviser and Dhaka-8 MP Mirza Abbas is expected to return to Bangladesh on Wednesday, September 2, after receiving medical treatment in Singapore and Malaysia for nearly five months.

BNP Media Cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan said a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying Abbas is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka at around 9:00pm that day.

Abbas, a BNP Standing Committee member, has shown significant improvement following his treatment and is returning home on the advice of his medical board, according to Sayrul.

He was initially treated at Singapore General Hospital after being flown there by air ambulance on March 15. He was later transferred to Prince Court Medical Centre in Malaysia, where he underwent physiotherapy and continued to recover.

Abbas had been admitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on March 11 after suddenly losing consciousness during iftar. A team of neurological specialists later performed brain surgery on him.

Following the surgery, doctors recommended physiotherapy, prompting his transfer to Malaysia for further treatment. His wife, Afroza Abbas, recently said his condition had improved considerably.
