French Locals Raise Over €90,000 for Bangladeshi Shopkeeper After Paris Looting
A Bangladeshi shopkeeper in Paris has received an outpouring of support from local residents after his business was damaged and looted amid unrest in the French capital.
Rabiul Hasan, who runs a computer and electronics shop called Rafi Informatique in the Boulevard de la Villette area, suffered significant losses when his store was targeted on October 17.
Following the incident, local residents launched an online fundraising campaign to help him recover and reopen his business. The initiative quickly gained momentum on social media, attracting donations from thousands of people.
According to a report published by America Bangla, citing Bangla Tribune, the campaign had raised more than €90,403 by 8pm London time on Monday, with contributions from nearly 10,000 donors.
The funds are intended to help Hasan repair the damaged security barriers, replenish his stock and get his business back up and running. Local organisers and community representatives are overseeing the fundraising effort and the distribution of assistance.
The support has offered the Bangladeshi entrepreneur renewed hope at a difficult time, as he faces the challenge of rebuilding his livelihood after the incident.
The fundraising campaign has also highlighted the solidarity shown by members of the local community, demonstrating how collective support can help small business owners recover from unexpected setbacks.
