Outrage in Gazipur: 8-Year-Old Madrasa Student Allegedly Abused, Two Arrested

GAZIPUR — Amid nationwide outrage over a recent incident in Tongi, another shocking allegation of child abuse has emerged from a Qawmi madrasa in the Gacha area of Gazipur. An 8-year-old student of Darul Hedaya Qawmi Madrasa was allegedly subjected to repeated abuse by a residential teacher.

Following the incident, a formal case has been filed against three individuals, including the accused teacher, Md. Oliullah Islam. Law enforcement agencies have already arrested two of the accused and sent them to jail following court proceedings.

According to the case statement, the victim, a third-grader residing at the madrasa’s hostel in the Kalomeshwar Dengu Ali Road area, came home for a visit on October 13. While bathing him, his mother noticed severe physical pain and learned about the horrifying ordeal after questioning him.

The victim reported that on the night of October 10, teacher Oliullah Islam woke him up and took him to the madrasa’s storeroom under threats, where he was assaulted. The young boy was subjected to similar abuse over the following two consecutive nights and threatened with physical violence if he disclosed the matter.

When the victim’s family approached the madrasa authorities, certain individuals allegedly attempted to cover up the incident and secretly removed the accused teacher from the institution instead of taking action.

Apart from the primary accused Oliullah, the other named suspects in the case are Mohammad Moshan and Md. Abdul Kuddus Sheikh. Investigators also revealed that another 10-year-old student has come forward with similar allegations against the same teacher.

Gacha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Rabbani stated that a thorough investigation is underway and a formal report will be submitted to the court soon.
