Popular Bangladeshi singer and former Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Asif Akbar narrowly escaped harm after unidentified assailants opened fire at his personal vehicle in the capital’s Moghbazar area early Saturday morning.
The incident took place on October 24, raising questions about the motive behind the attack and whether the singer was deliberately targeted. According to police, Asif was not inside the vehicle when the gunfire occurred and remained unharmed.
Confirming the incident, Mohammad Asaduzzaman, officer-in-charge of Hatirjheel Police Station, said the shooting had taken place in Moghbazar in the early hours of Saturday. He assured that police were treating the matter seriously and had begun investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack.
So far, authorities have not identified the individuals responsible for the shooting. The motive also remains unclear, and investigators have yet to establish whether the incident was connected to any personal dispute or professional rivalry involving the singer.
