Second Killing in Khulna in a Day as Woman Is Shot and Hacked to Death
A 25-year-old woman was shot and hacked to death by unidentified assailants in Khulna on Thursday evening, marking the second fatal shooting reported in the city within a single day.
The victim, identified as Khushi, was attacked at an alley in the Boubazar area of Jinnahpara, under the jurisdiction of Labanchara Police Station, at around 6:45 pm on October 22.
According to local residents and police, the attackers shot Khushi and struck her with sharp weapons before fleeing the scene. Locals rescued her and rushed her to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Police said Khushi’s husband, Sumon Sardar, also known as Blade Babu, is a listed drug trader. Investigators suspect that a dispute related to the drug trade may have been behind the killing, although the motive has not yet been confirmed.
Labanchara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Syed Mosharraf Hossain said police were dispatched to the scene after receiving information about the incident. An investigation is underway to identify and arrest those responsible.
Earlier that morning, a 27-year-old man named Md Tushar was shot dead by unidentified assailants on Ansar Uddin Lane, east of Mistripara Market, in another part of Khulna.
The two killings on the same day have heightened concerns about public safety in the city. Police are investigating both incidents.
