Teacher Dies After Falling From Rickshaw During Snatching Attempt

A schoolteacher died after falling from a rickshaw during a snatching attempt in front of the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad complex in Dhaka on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred around 6:30 am on August 29. The deceased, Mosammat Ronjina Parvin, was the headteacher of Bagbari Girls’ Government Primary School in Bogura.

According to reports, Ronjina had travelled to Dhaka from Bogura early Saturday to seek medical advice. While she was travelling by rickshaw from Gabtoli to Islamia Eye Hospital in Farmgate, a snatcher riding a motorcycle approached from behind and grabbed her bag.

As the snatcher pulled the bag, Ronjina fell from the rickshaw and suffered a severe head injury. She was rescued and taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where doctors examined her and declared her dead.

Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Ibne Mizan said police were working to identify the motorcycle and those involved in the incident. He expressed hope that the suspects would be identified and brought to justice soon.
