Matrix Dresses Limited Officially Announces Factory Closure

Matrix Dresses Limited, a garment factory located in the Rupnagar industrial area of Mirpur in Dhaka, has officially announced its closure.

The decision to shut down the factory came into effect on Friday, August 28.

Established in 2012, Matrix Dresses Limited had 150 machines, according to information from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA). The factory mainly produced T-shirts and tank tops for export.

Production at the factory had been disrupted for various reasons over the past two years. After facing prolonged business difficulties and financial pressure, the management ultimately decided to close the factory.

Managing Director Mahbubul Hasan Faisal confirmed the decision in a letter addressed to the company’s employees. In the letter, he said the closure was caused not only by the business downturn but also by what he described as the self-interested efforts of some individuals.

Faisal said he had tried in various ways to keep the company operating but was ultimately unsuccessful. He expressed gratitude to the employees who had remained committed to the company and supported it during difficult times.

He also apologized to the workers and wished them success in finding new employment. Faisal said he hoped to settle the company’s outstanding debts and creditors’ dues, return to a normal life and eventually establish himself through another business.

He further expressed hope that he would be able to create employment opportunities again for some of the company’s former workers and employees in the future.
