Two Jamaat Leaders Relieved of Duties Over Irregularities in Government Honorarium List

JASHORE, Aug 24: Two local leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami have been relieved of all organisational responsibilities following allegations of irregularities in preparing the government honorarium list for mosque imams, muezzins and khadims in Keshabpur upazila of Jashore.

The development was confirmed by Saidur Rahman Saeed, nayeb-e-ameer of Keshabpur upazila Jamaat.

The two leaders are Masud Kamal, president of Jamaat’s Paanjia Union unit, and Abdul Motaleb Molla, president of the party’s Ward No. 2 unit.

According to the upazila Jamaat, the two leaders will no longer be allowed to participate in any organisational activities or hold any responsibilities within the party.

Party sources said allegations of irregularities emerged against the two leaders while preparing the list of mosque imams, muezzins and khadims eligible for government honorariums.

After the allegations surfaced during an initial investigation, the upazila Jamaat decided to take action against them to protect the organisation’s image.

Saidur Rahman Saeed said the two leaders were removed from their organisational responsibilities following the allegations and a party decision.
