Residents living near the Bangladesh–India border in Lalmonirhat are growing increasingly anxious after a tiger reportedly crossed into Bangladesh from India and remained unaccounted for.
The tiger was reported in the Amjhol area near the Bonchowki border in Hatibandha upazila, Lalmonirhat. Its continued absence has raised concerns among local residents, who fear encountering the animal near their homes or agricultural land.
The situation has disrupted the peace of communities close to the border, with residents reportedly struggling to sleep amid fears that the tiger could enter populated areas.
The incident has also raised concerns about the safety of people living near the border and the need for coordinated efforts to locate the animal.
Until the tiger is found, residents remain uncertain about when normal life will return to the area. Authorities and relevant wildlife officials will need to establish the animal’s whereabouts and take appropriate measures to protect both local communities and the tiger.
