ICE Detains Far-Right Commentator Milo Yiannopoulos in Louisiana
Far-right British political commentator Milo Yiannopoulos has been taken into custody by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Louisiana, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed.
A DHS spokesperson said Yiannopoulos was arrested Thursday at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. According to the agency, he legally entered the United States in May 2019 but later overstayed his authorized period of stay.
An immigration judge issued a final removal order against Yiannopoulos on July 22 after he failed to appear for an immigration hearing, DHS said. He will remain in ICE custody while awaiting removal from the country.
Yiannopoulos was listed as being in ICE custody in the agency’s online detainee database on Friday, although the database did not provide details about his current location. Some reports said he was being held in Alexandria, Louisiana.
The former Breitbart News editor has previously worked with former US Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and was involved in Ye’s 2024 presidential campaign.
The detention has also drawn attention because Yiannopoulos previously expressed strong support for immigration enforcement. Far-right activist Laura Loomer claimed on social media that she had previously reported him to ICE.
