40th Merit-Ranked BCS Candidate Left Heartbroken After Gazetted Omission

Four years of relentless hard work, late-night studies, and the dream of serving as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) culminated in bitter disappointment for Fahim Faisal. Despite securing the 40th position overall in the 45th BCS merit list, his name was mysteriously absent from the final gazette notification of recommended candidates.

Fahim, a former student of Dhaka University’s Pharmacy Department, had cleared every rigorous hurdle of the BCS examination process, earning his spot purely on the strength of his own capability without any political backing or lobbying. However, the release of the final appointment gazette shattered those years of aspiration.

Expressing his deep anguish and confusion on social media, Fahim shared a poignant message reflecting the disillusionment of many qualified youths:

“Alhamdulillah, recommended for Assistant Superintendent of Police, but Not-Gazetted. I don’t know for what exact crime I was deprived of the gazette. The state must make it clear. If any wrongdoing is proven, I am ready to accept punishment. But to be stripped of my rightful achievement without cause is hard to accept. Many warned me beforehand—’There is no value for merit in this country.’ Stay well, Bangladesh.”

Fahim stated that he has never been involved in any political organization or criminal cases. Having passed up other potential opportunities to focus entirely on his goal, he is now joining other excluded candidates in demanding a transparent review and a rightful place in the gazette. His family and local well-wishers have expressed profound shock, urging the government to investigate why a top-ranking, qualified candidate was left empty-handed after years of dedication.
