Rape of 11-Year-Old Madrasa Student: Charge Sheet Filed Against Madrasa Teacher and Another
Police have filed a charge sheet against two men, including madrasa teacher Aman Ullah Mahmud, alias Sagar, in a case involving the rape of an 11-year-old madrasa student in Madan upazila of Netrokona.
The other accused is Aman Ullah’s brother, Maimun, alias Mamun Mia, 32.
Investigation officer and Madan Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Aktaruzzaman submitted the charge sheet to the court on Thursday.
According to police, the accused have been charged under Section 9(1) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000, and Section 506 of the Penal Code.
The investigation officer said a DNA test conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) found a 99.99 percent match between Aman Ullah Mahmud’s DNA and that of the newborn baby delivered by the victim. The charge sheet was submitted based on the DNA test results.
Mohammad Riyad Mahmud, court inspector at the Netrokona District Court, confirmed the submission of the charge sheet on Thursday afternoon.
Advocate Nurul Kabir Rubel, the state counsel and Public Prosecutor of the Netrokona Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, said the final DNA test report recently reached the court after samples were sent to the CID laboratory in Dhaka on the court’s orders.
According to the DNA profiling report, there is a 99.99 percent probability that Aman Ullah Mahmud is the biological father of the newborn.
Earlier, on July 28, the CID collected a DNA sample from the newborn at a safe home in Sylhet following a court order. A DNA sample from Aman Ullah had been collected on May 17.
The 11-year-old victim later gave birth to a baby girl at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital on July 2.
According to the case statement, the victim’s mother filed a case against Aman Ullah Mahmud at Madan Police Station on April 23 under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
The complaint alleged that Aman Ullah had raped the child multiple times, resulting in her pregnancy.
On May 7, a court placed Aman Ullah on a three-day remand. After the remand ended, he was produced before the court on May 10. The investigation officer then sought permission for a DNA test to verify the allegations and ensure a proper investigation. The court approved the request.
Meanwhile, considering the child’s safety and future, her mother applied to the court for protection. On May 12, the court ordered that the child be sent to a safe home in Sylhet run by the Department of Social Services.
With the submission of the charge sheet, the investigation into the case has been completed. The case will now proceed to the judicial stage following the court’s next legal proceedings.
