DNA test proves rape: The father of the new born child in Madrasah is the Madrasah teacher.
In Madan, Netrakona, a DNA test has confirmed that madrasa teacher Aman Ullah Mahmudi Sagor, the accused in the rape case involving an 11-year-old girl, is the biological father of the baby born as a result of the alleged rape.
The matter was confirmed on Monday (August 24) after the DNA test report was presented before the court, said Nurul Kabir Rubel, public prosecutor of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal.
According to the public prosecutor, the DNA report established that the accused madrasa teacher is the biological father of the newborn. The accused was produced before the court on Monday, and the DNA report was formally submitted. He also said the trial is expected to be completed within the next 60 days.
According to the case documents and police sources, Aman Ullah Mahmudi Sagor established a women’s Qawmi madrasa around four years ago. After the girl’s parents separated, she stayed at her maternal grandfather’s home and studied at the madrasa. Her mother worked as a domestic helper in Sylhet to support the family.
Later, the girl’s mother noticed that her daughter was feeling unwell and experiencing physical changes. On April 18, the girl was taken to a clinic in Madan municipal town for medical tests, where doctors confirmed that she was pregnant.
On April 23, the girl’s mother filed a case against madrasa teacher Aman Ullah Mahmudi Sagor. Later, on May 6, RAB arrested him from Gauripur in Mymensingh. The following day, a court placed him on a three-day remand. After the remand, the investigating officer sought permission for a DNA test, and the court ordered the test.
For the girl’s safety and future, the court ordered on May 12 that she be transferred to a safe home in Sylhet operated under the Department of Social Services. On July 2, she gave birth to a baby girl there.
Police subsequently applied to the court on July 9 for permission to conduct a DNA test on the newborn. Following the court’s order, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) collected DNA samples from the baby at the Sylhet safe home on July 28.
The DNA test report subsequently confirmed that Aman Ullah Mahmudi Sagor, the accused madrasa teacher, is the biological father of the newborn.
The prosecution is now focused on completing the trial proceedings as quickly as possible.
Human rights activist Kohinoor Begum said that following various allegations and complaints, the DNA test has now established that the accused madrasa teacher was responsible for the rape. She called for the trial to be completed within 60 days under the Speedy Trial Act and for the accused to receive exemplary punishment, saying such a sentence could raise social awareness and help prevent heinous crimes such as rape.
