Government Directs All Educational Institutions to Observe Eid-e-Miladunnabi

The government has directed all educational institutions across Bangladesh, including universities, to observe Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH) with due religious significance and appropriate programmes.

Eid-e-Miladunnabi will be observed in Bangladesh on August 26 this year. To mark the occasion, educational institutions have been instructed to organize various programmes, including prayer gatherings, Hamd and Naat recitations, poetry readings, cultural events and quiz competitions.

According to the government directive, educational institutions will also hold discussions on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Discussions will also focus on Islam’s messages of peace, progress, harmony, tolerance, global brotherhood, human rights and the dignity of women.

Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and other electronic media have been requested to broadcast special programmes marking the occasion, while newspapers will publish special supplements.

Similar programmes will also be held at district arts academies, the Bangladesh Shishu Academy, the Islamic Foundation, the Waqf Administrator’s Office and Hajj offices in Dhaka and Jeddah.

As part of the state programme, divisional, district and upazila administrations, city corporations, municipalities and the Armed Forces Division will organize discussions and prayer gatherings within their respective jurisdictions.

Bangladesh embassies and missions abroad will also observe Eid-e-Miladunnabi with due respect. Relevant ministries and departments have been instructed to take necessary measures to maintain peace and ensure normal law and order during the observance.
